Experience
Moreton Island...
... a totally unique
wilderness so close to Brisbane
Step onto Moreton Island and visit one of the last untouched wilderness areas left on the east coast of Australia.
A protected island east of the city of Brisbane, Moreton is one of the largest sand islands in the world, with 98% of its area designated as National Park.
Historicaly, ecologicaly and geographicaly significant, the island is host to a unique balance of flora and fauna which are slowly reclaiming the remnants of Moreton’s colourful past – from the WWII relics of Rous Battery and the old Whaling Station at Tangalooma to the Aboriginal Middens, some 1600 years old.
Trek in 4 Wheel drives to see amazing scenery – crystal clear fresh water lakes, giant sand dunes, unique fauna and white sandy beaches.
Moreton Island is one of the only places in the world where you experience the thrill of travelling at high speed down a monster sand dune on a sand toboggan. Camp in the Aussie bush and enjoy the conversation around an Aussie campfire – the warmth, the cooking, the stories.
Get involved or sit back and relax at the end of the day. This truly Australian experience will be an adventure long remembered.
